I’m excited to let everyone know about some coaching hires/changes for the short course season.  As everyone may already know, Coach Aaron has accepted a position with Bristol Myers Squib.  We are happy for him as he enters this new phase in his life and as he gets married later this month.  We are VERY thankful and fortunate that Coach Aaron will continue on with us as a coaching consultant moving forward.  He will be on deck as his schedule allows and we expect him to have a big impact on our team moving forward.  In a few short months with our team, Aaron has demonstrated his commitment and passion for our team and will continue to work with us as a way to fulfill his strong desire to help shape our team’s future.

With Aaron’s acceptance of this new position, we created a hiring committee to conduct a search for a new Age Group Coach.  I’m pleased to announce that effective immediately, Mike Chapman will be joining our coaching staff.  Mike has coached High School and Age Group teams in Evansville for 11 years and has lived in Newburgh since 2001.  Mike admires the dedication of the NSC swimmers and coaching staff and is “extremely excited to join the staff and help make NSC a premier program in Indiana”.

Aaron, Mike and I met yesterday and we are all excited to continue the momentum from the summer season.  The three of us, along with our other coaches, share 40 years of coaching experience and with the addition of Mike, we feel we have a well rounded coaching staff that will complement each other and create an even stronger swim program.

We will be having a meet/greet reception in the lobby of the pool on Tuesday with parents and swimmers at 5pm.  Feel free to stop by and meet Coach Mike before the season gets rolling.

In addition to Mike, we have one more hiring note – Jenny Ploetz (former NSC coach) will be joining our staff again as the Learn to Swim Coordinator.  So, don’t be surprised when you see her familiar face on deck as well.
