The
Newburgh Sea Creatures (NSC) is a competitive age-group swim club
with a team roster of 150 swimmers. The team provides swimming
opportunities to children of all ages. The team operates under the
rules and regulations of USA Swimming, Indiana Swimming, and the Southern Indiana Swim
Conference.
Practices and home meets are held at Castle High School’s
new, state-of-the art, 50 meter by 25 yard indoor pool. This
new facility allows for up to 19 practice lanes and 14 competition
lanes during the short course season and 9 practice lanes and 8
competition lanes when configured for long course meters.
NSC typically hosts two meets
a year, one during the short-course and one during the long-course
season.
Being a member of the NSC swim club helps the swimmers develop
physically, socially, and emotionally. We strive to improve them as
individuals and as team members through a positive swimming
experience. The sport of swimming has many benefits, including the
people involved with the sport. The camaraderie among swimmers is
unique; many swimmers become lifelong friends. In addition to being
around fine people, swimming provides one of the most beneficial
forms of exercise for cardiovascular and overall fitness. This
exercise can be enjoyed throughout one’s entire
life.
NSC
is a family-oriented club and thrives through the participation of
our coaches, swimmers, and parents. The team is a not-for-profit
organization that has been in existence for over 30 years. It is
designed to encourage maximum participation, provide an educational
experience, enhance physical and mental condition, and develop a
rich base of swimming talent.
The team functions with the support of volunteer swim parents and
the efforts of the coaching staff that is employed by the team. The
major financial support for the club comes from dues, sponsorships,
and from hosting swim meets.
The team operates on essentially two seasons per year. The winter
season runs from September to the middle of February. The summer
season runs from the beginning of April to the end of July. The
structure of the team itself is broken into groups based on
swimming ability.
